Note: appended info -

  • RAIDxpert log
  • System details

I've been running a RAID5 (3xSamsung-1TB) 2TB array for ~2 years.  About every 6 months it requires a rebuild.

Yesterday, it had a similar failure, but 67% of the way through the rebuild it failed again (see below) and I can't get it to either retry on that disk or accept a replacement drive.

  • The Rebuild tab is dark/disabled.
  • The replacement drive was, today, entered as an alternate drive for that array (it's on the same controller port)
  • I can find NOTHING that will force a rebuild, or even to acknowledge that drive as part of the array (even though it's been added as a spare for it)

At this moment, the replacement drive shows as a Dedicated  Spare to that RAID5 array, but I've found nothing that will rebuild to it.  It should have displayed as "assigned LD 1-01"

What can I do!  Where should I have found the proper instructions for this?

Thanks!

     John

Hi,

Do you have a solution yet?   I am having the same problem, my configuration is as follows:

Asus M4A87TD EVO with AMD Athlon II X4 630 CPU, 4 gig RAM

4x2T Hitachi drives

I had it set up as raid 5 and it was running for 2 years, until 3rd drive went bad, RAIDXpert tried to rebuild the raid but stop at 65% then went offline. I got a fresh new 2T Hitachi drive and replaced it, in RAIDXpert, it shows that the drive is good, but nothing happens, rebuild is greyed out, it just shows offline, nothing can be done to it, any idea? Or anyone can help?

I've found ZERO help.  AMD doesn't seem to give a damn about helping, nor have any others here or elsewhere had useful advice.  If you find a solution, please post here.

This has left me uninterested in future AMD chipset "features" like RAID.

Hi,

Seems I'm having a similar issue, and starting to wonder if it's not AMD raid drivers.

I'm using an ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0

3x WD 1TB HDD's

I get the Critical error almost daily, or if I try to run something system intensive like BF4.  I rebuild using AMD RAIDXpert, but it continues to happen.  Like you both, the last thing I want to do is re-install windows.

My scheduled synchronization on raid expert always stops at 2%, fails and goes critical.  It almost looks like the drive looses power, as it goes offline.

Anyway, some data on my log.  Looks like it could be a disk error, but isnt' it supposed to fix or just ignore those small disk errors?

Love to hear if you guys find solutions.  I'll post if I do.
