I set up a 12Gb RAID 5 Array.  4 x 4TB Hitachi 7200RPM Drives

GPT Volume 11.9999   Volume Label BIG12

Recognzed by BIOS, Recognized by RAID Xpert

Was working fine for about 30 days.

Suddenly, today Windows cannot find the volume.  Disk Managemnt reports 4 single drives with no volumes on them.  Same with RAID Xpert.  4 single drives with No Logical Drives.  Yet BIOS Still reports 12Gb Raid (healthy)

The BIOS RAID Version is 3.2.1540.44

Raid Xpert Version is 3.3.1504.19

Motherboard BIOSTAR TA870U3+  with BIOS 8.00.15 (08/24/11)

64-0100-000001-00101111-082411-ATHLON64-87XCD001-Y2KC

Now I realize that RAID doesn't garner much support with AMD, but if you are going to offer it, you can not ignore it for support.

(My previous 4Tb nVidia RAID5 has worked flawlessly for years.)

Did you updated the chipset driver or windows recently? People may lose chipset specific features if using drivers downloaded from AMD or Windows Update. Try use those offered in motherboard manufacturer's web site.

No driver updates.  All hardware updates applied before RAID was defined.

The unit has a separate boot drive.

The question is WHY DOES RAIDEXPERT see the volume, but BIOS NOT?

and since Raidxpert sees it, why is there nothing on it?
