I have Alienware M18X and AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series. I recently got my device from maintence and installed a display monitor because the original one was damaged. Ever since that I kept getting the following issues:

- Multiple bluescreen of death upon startup

re"> It happens 2 to 3 times before it decides to startup normally. It takesre"> about 2-3mins to crash after loging in.

re"> The BSOD always tell me the same error but not sure which one ofre"> those two: "atikmpag.sys" "atikmdag.sys"

- Black screen upon launching a fullscreen application e.g games

re"> The screen just goes black, the only thing visiable is the cursor and itre"> freezes like this until I turn off the power

- Black screen during instillation of AMD driver update

re"> Unlike the previous issue, the computer is not frozen and I can usere"> keyboard controls but the screen is black and nothing is visiable. Ire"> tried waiting 5-10mins but nothing happened. After turning off there"> power, windows will not start, it request me to do a system restore inre"> order to start.

Here is my system summery:

Have you read the sticky "Updating Mobility Drivers" in the LAPTOP forum?

Notebook review has a forum dedicated to the M18x with lots of good information. When Alienware stops furnishing new graphics updates for your computer, keep in mind the Leshcat drivers which is a good solution.
