Ive had the same laptop for the last three years now, and with it the same graphics card: the AMD Radeon HD 5700. Games are starting to look better and i'm running more and more games on medium as time goes by. My question is are there newer cards that would be compatible with this set up and if so which series? What factors should i consider when looking into this and how can i be sure that i can even change the card in my notebook? I would like to be able to keep this notebook but is that an option or will i simply need to buy a new computer for a better setup?

As a general rule, laptops do not have the updating ability of desktops. A different graphics chip would probably necessitate a new mother board, power supply, not to mention the heat increase. Look for a new laptop...and, try to "build your own" from companies like Sager/Clevo rather than buying a mass produced "model number" from any of the major suppliers. Keep in mind that Sony, Toshiba, and Panasonic laptops cannot use 'generic' drivers and must always use the vendor OEM updates...which are limited. If you read enough, you will also find that 'switchable' graphics have the same problem...limited support from the manufacturer.
