My laptop is out of warranty and the video card just died.  I am trying to find places I can shop for a new card.  Compare prices.  No problem here installing a new card that is pretty simple, but really struggling trying to find a retailer online for the card.

Also, recommendations for upgrading the existing card?

Did Alienware tell you that you could upgrade your graphics chip?

There is a Alienware forum where you could probably get better advice as to availibility and feasibility of a replacement/upgrade. Try here.

The laptop should have a standard MXM-III slot, which means you should be able to replace it with any MXM-III graphics board.  It's hard to find out for certain, but I believe the layout is fairly well defined, so the heat sink should fit properly.

That's not to say that finding MXM cards on the retail market is easy.  I'm able to find a few, but none are especially cheap.  This place might be your best bet.  You can contact them and get some more solid information before buying.
