I have a Clevo P170EM mobo running a 7970M with a 3610QM (HD4000) processor. With 13.12 drivers.
I see very often that when the GPU gets a task to do something simple, the GPU usage flies to 100%. When it has nothing to do, it of course powers down and isn't used, blowing out cool air. But if the client of League of Legends is set to run on the GPU, just the launcer/client window will max out the usage to 100%, though I can see on the temperature (~65-75C) that it isn't stressed, though it's still active. (I monitor usage through the "GPU Temp" program)
Other example is when I run EVE Online, I get 100% GPU usage too and it runs at about the same temperature as with the LoL client. I don't see why the graphics card has to be so stressed over simple applications, some even not a 3D application (as with the LoL case). I double checked that VSync is on ingame in EVE, so it shouldn't be a framerate running wild.
Any good advice for this kind of problem? Thanks in advance
