I have been working on an Alienware Laptop (M17X R3) for a decent amount of time now, and the furthest i can get with this machine is a black screen after i install the "proper drivers" and reboot. I have read multiple forums on the subject but i figure that since i still cannot get it working i would ask on here. I even called Dell to sit on the phone for 3 hours to get transferred to the tech department so they could tell me that even if i sent the computer into them to have it fixed, there would be nothing they could do because they dont carry parts for this computer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Specs: Alienware M17x R3

Fresh install Windows 7 x64

8GB RAM

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM @2.20GHz

Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000

*(upgraded to) ATI Radeon HD 7970m. (used to have ATI Radeon HD 6990), and it is doing the same thing with both video cards.

*Replaced Motherboard (does the same thing with old MB as it does with new MB).

...and after your 'fresh install' did you Manually go to Windows Update and install All the 'optional' downloads?
