I have a dell inspiron 15r with a HD7730M connected to an external Dell monitor U2713H (2560x1440) using HDMI.  The only other connector option on the laptop is VGA (or usb 3.0).  Using HDMI, the max resolution that the laptop allows is 1920x1080.  The specs for the 7730 seem to say that it is capable of 2560x1440.

Is there a way I can get my laptop to drive the max resolution of this monitor over any of my available connections (HDMI, VGA, USB)?

I'm considering a USB 3.0 DP dock/external video card, but I'd like to know if I can do this natively.

Hello, have you found a solution to your problem ?

I am having the same issue with an AMD Radeon HD 6630M wich I am trying to run at 2560x1440 in HDMI. It should work according to the specs...
