(sorry in advance for my "crystal clear" english! Am not a native speaker)

So my story begins from 2 weeks ago when while gaming my ProBook 4730s decided to lock up the screen, the PC was still runing but the screen remained the same! ctr+alt+f4 and so on didnt help, I could only force shutdown it via the button, and so I did, when I turned it back on it promted me to do startup repair... which was ood, after it compleated its 20 min thing it reported that everything is fine... -_- ! Oh well, so the PC started normaly again and all was fine, so I started gaming again, not 3 minutes passed as the same thing happened... force shutdown restart again setup repair, gain 20 min, again all is fine... but this time, as it booted up to the logo... it froze again, this time on the logo... indefenatly! After googling on a different PC I understood that its a driver issue for my  radeon 7470m! So I folowed the steps! Booted in safe mode, deleted both amd and intel drivers both manually and then via Display Driver Uninstaler tool, launched in normal mode instaled intel drivers, rebooted! While installing sp55947 the driver for AMD from intel website specificaly for my laptop, it gets till the driver part flashes black screen once and when it does it the second time... it stays black with a flashing underscore... if I force shutdown it again and restart it again land on the logo and freezes... even if I instal a never driver win8/7 something it instals but gives me code 43 in device manager!

So i thought that the AMD chip must have burnt... T_T

When I opened up my laptop and took it apart, when i removed my heatsink the AMD chip was shiny like new... BUT! The heat sing which was siting on top of the AMD chip was black-ish... not the whole are but like 45% of it... no smell of burnt or bubling or anything... changed the thermal paste, set it back together, launched, tryed installing drivers again... aaand no dice still nothing!

So! Any ideas?

P.S.

Oh yeah! I was stupid enoug to reinstal windows and format my drive!

When I see reinstall..I worry. Why did you uninstall? Have you manually gone to Windows update and installed all the 'optional' and 'suggested' updates? Is your computer a model that has switchable graphics? Have you changed the OS from what was originally provided with the laptop? Is your computer power set to 'performance'? Have you disabled ULPS? Is your power slider set to +20 in the CCC? Does HP have some program that is throttling your computer to save the battery? In any event, make sure you are completely up to date with Windows Update and install the graphics drivers that HP has for your model.

WOW...
Thanks for the speedy reply

I uninstaled (the drivers I presume) because I could only boot normaly while using native resolution or disabling switchable graphics option, thus disabling the AMD!
As for windows updates... yes, yes I have manually instaled them both opt and suggested!
Yes it has switchable graphics (Intel HD3000 & Radeon 7470m)
OS is the same win7 licensed (I will add that, when I was performing maintenance of backing up my files on external HDD and doing a clear reinstal of windows a year ago I downloaded official win7 ISO and then USB instaled them and activated with my license key)
Power is set to  high performance!
I dont think I did disable ULPS, but im not sure... I may have done it on accident or something! Im not familiar with ULPS... only what I just googled!
If I do manage to instal CCC I dont have many options as because it says that I basicaly dont have proper drivers...
I did have HP power assistant, but that was the same thing as any modern windows system has included so I deleted it, as it was of no use to me ( actually found that out yesterfay and deleted it )

I am up to date with windows updates
but if I'll install intel provided link
then ill most likely get till driver instal part and the screen will go blank with flashing underscore again... and if I force shut it and reboot it will hung up on windows logo! Because I tryed the same thing multiple times, with the same outcome

I have to say this is driving me nuts, because I usually can fix everything around me! And it does not seem as the card is burnt or dead! I am a student so I dont have so much cash, and before I spend about 200 EUR on a new motherboard I want to be sure that nothing else can be done...

Thankyou

Well, one problem is that your switchable graphics cannot use 'generic drivers' and that's all AMD offers. Read 'Updating Mobility drivers'. So you either use the drivers supplied by the manufacturer or use a modded set of drivers. Google 'Leshcat drivers'. The bad part is, you must have the factory supplied drivers installed for Leshcat to work..it over-writes them. So go to HP and install any version drivers for your laptop.

ULPS

And some useful info here

...

Well then!

So I had uninstaled and deleted any AMD related stuff a week ago so I had a clean start already!
I proceeded with the lashcat download and a official driver for my amd from HP...
As I predicted, while installing the HP given driver it hung up on blank screen with a flashinf underscore!
Force shutdown! Restart! And it freezes on windows logo...
Boot in safe mode... delete AMD again- restart! Am back at normal windows, resolution is awful! Tryed to proceede with lashcat!
It started installing INTEL drivers, all is good, went blank for 2min once aaand BSOD (***STOP 0x0000003B......)
Well, ok! It restarted, and went into normal windows and looked fine... intel had installed resolution fine!
So it started installing AMD... and it installed fine O_O no errors no glitches nothing.. BUT!!! When It restarts the PC and boots windows normali I get pass the logo and get to the point where it asks for my password, the tune plays for 2 seconds... aaand blank screen with flashing underscore again! Only option? Force shutdown again

am writing this from safe mode now

[UPDATE]

So this just happened!
After I restarted from safe mode and went to normal boot, I got till the password window, tiped it fast and it proceede to log in, resolution was low, while loging in, it flashed to the underscore screen again, so I thought "well thats that",,, but, it flashed again to blank screen with no underscore and actually loged me in... with normal resolution!!! But, 3min in the screen froze... it was just like the first time all this started! (For those 3min it looked like all is good and everything is up and runing again...
I am not 100% sure, but I guess that the AMD chip has NOT burned or damaged, its just upset <_< )

Now, as I force shut it down, I booted it up normaly again, and it freezes on logo again...

aint that something! Im no specialist, but I guess this is a tough one?
Might try and reset BIOS to factory! What you think?

Can you re-install the OS from the recovery disc? If you do, this will repair and install the drivers. Keep in mind, you must still manually update your computer from Windows Update before trying Leshcat drivers. Every update that is available except for graphics. I can't emphasize that enough..all the updates. Do not waste your time trying to install Leshcat until you have a working set of HP graphics drivers.

So I took your advice!

Unfortunately, I don't have and never had a windows repair CD, the windows came on the PC preinstalled and I have divided section on my hd that hold the original windows...

But that does not mater! Because I did a fresh reinstall of windows 3 weeks ago, and I updated drivers! So I again deleted anything AMD and INTEL related using Display Driver Uninstaler (DDU) a set out to find drivers that would work for me! So I got lates intel HD3000 drivers which instaled perfectly- restart, got the latest amd driver for 7470m (sp63715) It was the only one that worked and installed properly! Earlyer drivers just dumped me to the flashing underscore screen mid instal and froze me at win logo! After the new drives were instaled and the pc was restarted in device maneger radeon card showed code 43! (If I could get the card working without errors I wouldt need lashcat) anyway, I resumed with lashcat, it instaled intel- no problem, restarted, and while installing ati... again, flashing underscore mid-instal... I waited, just in case! force shutdown eventualy -_-   boot up normaly, and it logs in!!! BUT, now I got code 52 on that damn ati...    So i figured to launch it without digital signature enforcement in boot menu (I presume you know what im refering to) it started to launch, I got till the point where I tipe in my password and ass I hit enter BSOD... (0x00000050 (0xFFFFF70281A80488...)
so... yeah...

It doesn't matter what you reinstalled fresh. I have suggested you install the factory Os and programs. That would include the graphics driver. Installing a Win 7 does not. Unless you are holding back some information. Use the installation disc or the installation /recover partition to bring your computer back to factory fresh settings. That is as plain as I can say it...if you don't know how take it to someone who does. Otherwise...good luck.

I thank you for your help... but you do not seem to follow

I did both fresh reinstal of windows AND a factory reset, on factory reset I only get "standart VGA adapter" as where my radeon is suposed to be!
The only driver that worked so far was one from intels homepage, none of the others did...

I have wrote several times before, I cant get the drivers to work! None of them! I folowed all your advices and even did the factory reset and guess what? Nothing! Just as I predicted! After a full update trough windows update and a full update of all the driver necessery for this pc model with the coresponding drivers I spent my whole day to be sure and thorough! and when I get to the part of intel and amd graphics the same story repets itself!

How do I put this! When I install drivers I get errors, which i wrote above multiple times! The one driver that worked fine for 3 years now gives me errors, the lashcat driver gives me errors aswell! The only driver I can put on is the latest for win7/8 AND it gives me error 53!

Now do you understand?

Now, If you tell me that I have to reinstal something again to factory settings im gona laugh my ass off!

Im sorry but it seems that you didnt even read what I sayd in my posts! I thank you for your help and time you devoted for this, but I asume this is beyond forum help!

Something smells dead. You're pm to me says you can not perform a factory reset because you removed the partion that had it on it and you didn't have a recover cd. So no, I don't think you did a factory reset. I think you reinstalled Win 7 ..and I think your'e right, you are beyond forum help.
