I am using Windows 8.1 pro. on HP pavillion g6 1302tx notebook which comes with Intel HD graphics 3000 and AMD Radeon 7450 inbuilt. I installed latest drivers from official HP website for both Intel Graphics and Radeon 7450.

Now the Problem is when I assign any game (eg. Need for Speed Hot Persuit) or application (eg. vlc Media player) to high performance by going into catalyst control centre from switchable graphics context menu, and launch the application it craches immediately. When I put the game or application back to power saving mode. they run normally, but as they are not using graphic card, they are very slow, and laggy. I have also installed AMD system Monitor to see the Graphic Card usage, It is always zero. I can see AMD Radeon 7450 listed under computer->manage->device manager->display drivers.

So in summary, I am unable to use AMD Radeon 7450, If i try to do so, Applications will crash. I was not having this issue when i was using Windows 7, Kindly look into the issue.

Thanks for that link.

The amd and intel driver seem to support windows 8 only.

Not sure for windows 8.1.

You can try the amd and intel sites for updated drivers.

Delete/ uninstall drivers for both adapters.

Try to clean install the intel first, then the amd from the drivers given on Hp site or from the links i provided.

Check your laptop temperatures with gpuz and cpuz.

If you manage to run games on amd graphics, monitor temps with afterburner in-game.

My laptop had DOS originally. I installed Windows 7 first, and every thing was working fine with AMD Raedon. Then I switched to Windows 8.1, and only after that i am facing this issue.

Well I read on HP Forum Thread, to look into BIOS for Swithcable graphics, I switched mode from Dynamic to Fixed in BIOS. Now I am able to run Games on AMD, as It is monitored by System Monitor for AMD, But still i don't understand why it does not work with dynamic mode. Should I still need to install new drivers from Links provided by you, or it is something else.

backFireX64 : After uninstalling drivers provided by HP Website, and Installing Drivers suggested by you, Everything is working fine. I am able to use AMD Radeon 7450, in dynamic swtich mode and game performance has improved.

-thanks a lot.
