I've been folding for a little over a year now, and I've been about quantity, not quality. I have 5 PC's running full time, and darn it, I want more points! I hit a brick wall as soon as I broke #40 in the rankings. I gain a little, then a few people breeze right past me, and I'm back down again.

So, I'm wondering how I can optimize my machines for optimal PPD. I'm running 3 GPU PC's and folding on two CPU's. I've finally done some reading and found the "-advmethods" and "-forceasm" flags that I've not used before....but is this all I can do to maximize my points? My 3870 gets maybe 1500 PPD, but I read about others getting as much as 3000. I'm thinking there's a secret someone's not telling me.....

I'm not ready to throw the towel in yet, but holy crap my electric bills high!

ATI CrossFireX™ is the ultimate multi-GPU performance gaming platform. Enabling game-dominating power, ATI CrossFireX technology enables two or more discrete graphics processors to work together to improve system performance. For The Ultimate Visual Experience™, be sure to select ATI CrossFireX ready motherboards for AMD and Intel® processors and multiple ATI Radeon™ HD graphics cards.

ATI CrossFireX technology allows you to expand your system’s graphics capabilities. It allows you the ability to scale your system’s graphics horsepower as you need it, supporting up to four ATI Radeon™ HD graphics cards, making this the most scalable gaming platform ever.

G`day/night when ever you are reading this;

My system is an intel P35, OS is XP sp3, My processor an intel q6600, The system has 2G of ddr2 1066 ram, 850w Thermaltake toughpower Psu, heaps of raid0 sata2,dvico HD TV tuner and a gigabyte HD4870X2. I believe the components are all good for crossfirex setups.

It also has constant random slow downs in games new and old running single and duel GPU configs(crossfireX). Slow downs I never had using my older card(8800gtx). Don`t get me wrong the 4870X2 out performs my 8800 but I didn`t have the slow downs during games:-often down to 16 fps for short periods in no action areas?

This card is (the ultimate multi-GPU performance gaming platform) so; Is it the slow development of the technology, Maker of the card, Driver development, or my system that`s causing this problem. After all I would have thought that a card made just last year would dominate a card 3 years old in all areas of performance.

F@H Doesn't Trigger 3D Clock Speeds

It would appear (according to CCC at least), that the clocks stay at 2D speeds when the F@H client is running. It can be worked around by creating a custom profile that enables full speed for both 2D and 3D applications, but that's a bit lame. The driver should recognize the F@H client as a 3D application and turn up the clock speed accordingly.

I recently installed a 2nd 4870 in my pc and updated drivers to cat. 8.12 by the same time and since then...I can't fold anymore!

My crossfire is disabled for F@H, my temps are good, have latest drivers, my power supply is enough (Silverstone Decathlon 850W), my CPU OC is rock stable...I can't see the problem, only thing that comes to my mind is a driver failure.

My F@H is set up just fine to have 2 gpu's folding, but after some times (like 20-30 mins...) my video cards just crash , and that only happens when I try to fold with either 1 or 2 cards (I often do gaming with the 1st card ^_^ ), if I don't fold, my cards are working just fine tho...

I installed 'folding@home-R600-systray.msi' to use with my two 2600xt but it didn't work. The side effect of the install killed the Display Drivers so I uninstalled the program after reboot the Display drivers still didn't work. I attemped to reinstall the Catalyst Drivers 8-4 but the Catalyst Control Center wouldn't run, and I cant get my multi monitor system config back to normal. I did a system restore and it fixed my monitor set up, but CCC still won't boot. I did an even older system restore, then I reinstalled .net framework 3.0, and still CCC won't boot. I really need CCC to work.

System specks
Asus m3a32-mvp
phemon quad core black edition
2 2600xt video cards
all the latest drivers.
