Last night, the Catalyst team has unveiled the brand new AMD Catalyst Uninstall Utility, available at the URL above .

I ran it on my computer here and was pleasantly surprised. It left the chipset drivers (thankfully), but it took off all the old folders that we normally have to manually delete during uninstalls (C:, C:/ProgramData, etc.) and the non-Chipset registry keys and Global Assembly Caches (from .Net in the C:/Windows/assembly folder). 

During the uninstall, the screen did go black for longer-than-expected (took about 20sec to come back), so keep that in mind during your uninstallation, but this is normal functionality depending on your system (it didn't do the Safe Mode driver change that the old Uninstaller did, which explains the delay).

While there is no GUI window open during the uninstall in Windows, the AMD Icon (which says "In Progress" when you hover over it) does stay by the clock in the system tray, so that you know that it's still running.

INSTALLING NEW DRIVERS
 
NOTE! Very Important! Any driver newer than Catalyst 12.8 requires .NET v4 or newer to be installed.  Please read before trying to install drivers.

Check Windows update for 'suggested/recommended' updates. These don't install automatically.

NOTE! It is best if you temporarily disable any anti-virus/malware/ad-block programs during the installation process.

 
WINDOWS 7:
 
1. Uninstall old drivers using AMD Uninstall Utility (for Windows 7 only).  http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/catalyst-uninstall-utility.aspx


WINDOWS 8 , VISTA , WINDOWS XP:

2. Use your computer's uninstall-a-program option (in control panel). 'Express uninstall all AMD software' including the install manager.   

3. Reboot.

4. Run Driver Sweeper 3.2.0 (free).  Select AMD display graphics; analyse, and delete all it finds.

6. Download the correct driver suite.Do not use auto-detect feature to find your driver.

This operating system ships with .NET Framework 4.5 already.  You are good to go.

Vista and Windows 7
The .NET Framework 4.5 is a complete update, and will uninstall any previous .NET v4.x installs prior to installing itself.  You can download version 4.5 here: http://www.microsoft.com/net.

It is not compatible with WindowsXP.

WindowsXP
You need this version: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851 , and then update it to this version: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29054

The second download link is the v4.0.3 update to v4.0, and is the last version that is compatible with WindowsXP.

If you're faced with install issues, try these solutions. May not work if any driver sweeper or registry entry cleaners have been used.

Might also be of use if errors are encountered during installation of drivers ..

Run a system file check first using an elevated command prompt - SFC /scannow

.. and then try the things mentioned below.



Navigate to : C:\ATI\Support\ ( your driver version here ) \Config\InstallManager.cfg

.. open the .cfg file and change the value :

WorkaroundInstall=false

to :

WorkaroundInstall=true



... and see if that starts the install process ..



Also an option :

1. Download the WICU.

2. Uninstall everything related to ATI/AMD.

Control Panel -->> Services -->> AMD External Events Utility -->> Disable / Stop Service ..

Command Prompt with elevated permissions --> sc delete "AMD External Events Utility" ..

Reboot ..

3. Launch WICU and delete anything related to ATI/AMD/CCC.

4. Delete all ATI/AMD folders in "C:\Program Files" and "C:\Program Files (x86)".

5. While UAC is turned off (Vista/7 only) navigate to the "C:\Windows\Assembly" folder and delete any assemblies which have the public token key "90ba9c70f846762e". It is possible that you won't find any, but check it.

5. Reboot.

6. Install the Catalyst package again.



or ..

Run a CMD window as admin

Type : C:\ATI\Support\< name of catalyst folder package unpacked in C:\ here>\

Then : C:\ATI\Support\< name of catalyst folder package unpacked in C:\ here>\cd bin ( or cd bin64 )

Then type the command : atisetup.exe -Install -Output screen
