I have a Alienware Aurora R4 with a 3.2GHz Intel Core i7-3820K . I currently have 8GB of ram, I purchased and tried to install 16GB of AMD Radeon™ RG2133 Ram. My system would not boot up. Tried several different solutions I found on the net to no avail. I had to put the original ram back in for it to even boot up. I even had to reset me bios just to get it to boot up before I gave up.

Very frustrated, I paid alot of money for this PC because I thought it would be easily upgradable and future proof. I thought with the I7 the ram should have been pretty much plug and play, especially since alot of my other components are AMD also. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 7970M. I just downloaded and installed the latest WQHL driver (13.4), but checking my Device Manager reveals that the driver date is still 3/18/2013 -- the date of 13.3 BETA 3 -- rather than 4/24/2013.

When I first installed 13.4 via Catalyst Install Manager, it gave me an option under component selection to install an AMD Display Driver (and I did), but when running the Install Manager agian to reinstall, the Display Driver no longer appears as an option. Thinking that maybe it was because I was trying to install the same Display Driver version, I ran the installer for the 13.5 BETA 2, but a Display Driver does not appear on that list of components, either. I don't have Catalyst Control Center installed and I don't get the option to install it from the Install Managers of either 13.4 or 13.5. Everything else on the component list (AMD APP SDK, Accelerated Video, Audio Driver, etc. etc.) claims to be installed and up-to-date in both 13.4 and 13.5.

It seems like something may be wrong with the Install Manager detecting my hardware/software. Is there another way to verify the version of the Display Driver to ensure that I have the latest driver installed? And has another experienced something like this before?

Greetings.

On the advice of my room mate, and a video card rating site, I switched from an nVidia card to an ATI card. He was getting a new one, and it was an upgrade for me (according to the rateing site).

When playing company of heroes 2 your drivers are causing a unnessary crash in the system what ever the cause is seem pretty simple to fix considering the card can run the game but it has a dice roll of a chance to crash for no reason. Please make a fix for this, because it tiring to have a damn crash on a game tthat runn so damn smooth.

I have a 4870 Hd Saphire Graphic card

The game crash randomly at its own accord due to conflict with the card. It freezes I see my troops standing there i can't pan the screen then at that moment I know i hit the random crash. It odd, the game run to damn good just to go bye bye like that.

I run the game on low everything on low low low. Even though i can run it on medium.

I run Windows7 with a 2.5Ghz Intel dual core. I have 2x4650s and 1x6850. ) I've had this setup working for a couple years, and have been updating as time goes by. Usually I can manage to figure out how the driver has decided to break my configuration but this time is different.

I use 3 monitors as single monitors attached to 3 of the 4 ports the 2 4650s give me. The 3 monitors on the 6850 are built into an Eyefinity 1x3 wide display group.

I installed the new catalyst 13.1, and only the 6850 worked. The 4650s come up as "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". I've uninstalled everything, rebooted, and if I install the Catalyst 12.6, I get all cards working again (4650s on driver 8.920.0.0), but I can't run the Catalyst control panel to reconfigure my Eyefinity group, I get an error that it can't find any AMD graphics cards. So I update just the driver for the 6850 to the 13.1 driver package, and my 4650s are broken again as soon as that driver becomes active on the 6850.

I just want to go back to what was working, and I promise I'll never try to update my drivers again, no matter how often I have to reboot to get rid of artifacting.

(I posted this elsewhere, proll'y in the wrong spot.)

Just got my new 7970 Ghz (ooOooH!) but am getting horible tearing everywhere! (AAaaw!)

Games, desktop even. Simple YouTube vid on desktop tears, windowed or FS. Most distracting. In Bioshock Infinity can't get my eyes off it. Smack in the middle on middle monitor! Upper 1/4 on right monitor. (BTW; Who do I thank for BI key? Thanx!!) Absolutely can not watch vid's, shows, or movies. Windowed or FS. I got one simple game I can tolerate it, but the new Bioshock (optimized for AMD) ..no freeking way. Anything needing muscle from the 7970, nope.

Even dragging Firefox around I can see it.. sheeesh.

Connector order, l to r.

DP>active>DVI, DVI, DVI

All monitors Asus vw266 @ 1920x1200. ccc13.1

New smaller Active adapter way faster screen changes vs the older bricks. Connector layout on card is exact same as my 5870's which just rocked BTW, except I got the 1gig versions.

Tried fiddling with v-sync to no avail. That would not help desktop. Its like digital vertical blanking in the wrong place. (is there such a thing?)

Most distressing. \/\/hat gives??

Any hints as to whats up?

Been gaming from the beginning, c64 to DooM with IP adress's (uhg), and system builder all along. I know my way around these things pretty good. Current system is near 3yrs old..!

I have HD 4870 videocard and Philips 248X3LFH as monitor.

My problem: I want to play Counter Strike 1.6 with 4:3 on my widescreen monitor while for work I choose default 16:9. I need my drivers to switch automatically from 16:9 to 4:3 (from desktop to the moment I start game) and want to see black lines to the left and right while I play. I tried different connections via monitor (hdmi vga and dvi) and no help to my situation. The trouble is in frequence (timerefresh) of monitor. I need to play game with 75herz refreshrate (what is normal for 800x600 resolution i have chosen for game) and doesntmatter what resolution to use for desktop (of course it could be only 60hz with 1900x1200). So when I choose "enable GPU scaling: maintain aspect ratio" there is no problems except one: 4:3 is working only with 60hz. Picture changes perfectly from desktop to game with that black lines I needed but refreshrate of monitor that is the problem.

In few words: I could not choose with what frequence I can set monitor to maintain aspect ratio.

The Sony system is connected to the computer over HDMI.

Every time I disconnect power to the Sony, or switch modes from HDMI computer, to anything else, the computer stops detecting the presence of the sony!!

This is remedied by re-installing the graphics driver pack. Why does my cards HDMI sound output keep failing!?!

It's detecting the Sony's connection and the display works, but the soundcard fails to recognise the connected device!

Help! No other forum, or any other person can seem to give me a reasonable answer as to why it's doing this, or offer any solution.

My system details.

I have inheritted an XFX Radeon 4870HD from my Dad as he upgraded, however the fan on it runs permanently, i've updated to the latest drivers and tried all I can think of (other than removing the casing on the card and re-seating the fan / heatsink).

rebooted yesterday & suddenly desktop would not fit in screen & everything was bigger in XP (ati-radeon hd4770 graphics card, acer 22" lcd monitor).

I have to move the mouse along the borders of the desktop to see stuff thats off screen.

I had been using 1680x1050 res (max res of the monitor) but found I could fit the whole desktop to the screen if I dropped down to the next res of 1600x1200 & everything then got smaller. However thats a diff aspect ratio & makes pics & vids looked 'stretched'.

I booted to win7-64 & found everything bigger there also but the whole desktop at least fit the screen, the res had changed to 1024x768. I bumped it up to 1600x1200 (for some reason 1680x1050 not available) & that reduced the hugh icon size but still have the aspect ratio problem.

Booted to ubuntu partition & found video look/specs there same as in win7-64.

Any ideas?

Not sure if its due to windows 8 or the 6950 but there is a minor issue where the reciever will have no sound till 1-2 seconds after a media file is played. During that time the reciever is changing sound inputs. This is quite annoying since it can cause me to miss notifications from IM's. I have a feeling its due to windows 8 but just in case I want to bring it up here in case I am wrong.

It worked fine on Windows 7 with no issues.

Any information on how to fix this minor issue would be highly appreciated!

I have a MSI GX623 notebook with Mobility HD4670 GPU, 512MB. Game is running fine on both medium and low settings, no fps drop or whatever, but for some reason, at random time intervals (from 2 minutes to few hours) screen goes black, sound plays for a while and then starts looping a bit of it. Only notebook restart is working.

Any help regarding this problem is very appreciated. Also please note, that I have 13.1 Catalyst, as well as latest game and Windows 7 updates installed. Other games (including WoW and Diablo 3) are working fine even with many background programs running. Hardware failure is also unlikely.
